Npower Girls U13's tournament

16 October 2012

Your school’s girls football team are invited to take their first steps along Wembley Way with the launch of the npower Football League Girls Cup.

The npower Football League Girls Cup is an under 13s 6-a-side competition, which pits schools against each other at local and regional level.

The winners of the regional finals will play each other in a grand final on the pitch at Wembley stadium before the culmination of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in April 2013.

Sheffield & Hallamshire FA are delighted to be working alongside our partners at the region’s professional clubs – the Blades, Millers, Owls, Rovers and Tykes – who are each hosting a local competition for schools looking to take part.

Gemma Gale, Girls’ and Women’s Football Development Officer, said: “It is great that this fun and friendly competition has been launched for the 2012/13 season. It provides local girls with a perfect opportunity to get involved in the game and represent their school in such a prestigious competition, whilst winning a few prizes on behalf of their school.”

Prizes have been made available for teams entering at every stage of the competition, ranging from certificates and medals to footballs and new kits as npower and the Football League look to encourage a whopping 2,500 schools and 25,000 female pupils to get involved.

Sheffield’s King Ecgberts Secondary School scooped the national prize in 2011, beating Watford’s Queen’s School in the Cup final at Wembley.
