Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk about the signing of Lee Frecklington.

On the eve of the clash at Aldershot Town, boss Steve Evans has bolstered his squad with the emergency loan signing of Peterborough’s Lee Frecklington.

The versatile midfielder put pen-to-paper on a one-month deal this morning at New York Stadium and will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s encounter at Aldershot Town.

The 27-year-old has played six times for Darren Ferguson’s side this season, including five games in the Championship and is closing in on 100 appearances in all competitions for the London Road club.

Boss Steve Evans this morning told www.themillers.co.uk that he was delighted to add the former Lincoln playmaker to his side, which set off for Aldershot early this afternoon.

“We spent a long time this week getting the deal done and we are delighted to have Lee here”, he said.

“We tied the deal up late last night and he’s signed which is great news. Lee is a great lad, he is an attacking midfielder who likes to get into the box and I think our fans will love him.

“We are only talking less than 18 months ago that some clubs bid £700,000 for his services so he comes here with a lot to prove but he wanted to come and he wanted to play so I didn’t really need to sell it to him.”

Evans also admitted that Frecklington is a player he has tracked for sometime and was thankful to Posh boss Darren Ferguson for allowing him to join on loan.

“He is a player I have admired for a long time and we have tried desperately before to sign him permanently but we couldn’t get near the figures required,” Evans added.

“To even get him on loan is quite incredible so I am grateful to Darren Ferguson for allowing it to happen because as we know Lee has played for him in the Championship this year. He can come here now, get a month of football under his belt but he needs to be at this best to get in the side.

“He is in the squad that is travelling to Aldershot, but whether he will start has not been decided yet. He trained with us this morning but he knows most of the boys anyway from playing against them over the years so he will fit right in.”

There is a full interview to follow with Lee Frecklington on Millers Player shortly.
