Gaffer pleased with comeback
Rotherham United boss Steve Evans believes a few ‘harsh words’ at half time helped spur the Millers on to a second successive win, and move the Millers into the play-off positions.“I thought the performance was excellent from start to finish, I couldn’t separate the first half from the second half other than the goals,” Evans told Millers Player. “We’ll be critical of the goal obviously, we’ve got a corner and conceded, which is just individuals not doing their jobs properly. I said a few harsh words to people who I thought could step it up in the second half and they gave us a real performance in front of supporters who we’re very fortunate to have. I’ve not had a support like that ever, the kop end was phenomenal tonight.”
Evans reserved special praise for the hero of the hour, who struck twice in two minutes to complete the comeback and cancel out Kevin Ellison’s opener, and the Millers boss believes it’s reward for his hard work.
“Daniel Nardiello is a good player but he has to be fully fit. If he’s not getting the goals or he’s not fit he’s not the same player. I didn’t just wake up and bring him in because there’s nobody else, I brought him in because he’s shown me on the training ground why he should be playing,” Evans added.
