Rotherham United recall defender...
Rotherham United have recalled Johnny Mullins from his loan spell with Oxford United, in order to help with the Millers’ ever expanding list of injuries.Mullins has spent two months with the Us and managed two goals in his spell, but will return to the Millers with immediate effect. Craig Morgan, and left-back Josh Morris have both picked up knocks recently, in addition to the loss of Kari Arnason and Dale Tonge.
“Given the alarming and unprecedented injury crisis which it has to be said seems to be never abating, following my meeting this morning with the chairman Tony Stwart, I have had sanctioned by the Chairman, a number of proposals which include the immediate recalling of Johnny Mulls from Oxford,” said manager Steve Evans.
Mullins, who collected the Player of the Year award last season, was almost set to return previously, but for other avenues being explored by the manager.
“This was a consideration earlier this week until we had in place an agreement in place with a Championship club to sign an experienced central defender. However, that fell through when the player was injured in a practice match on Monday morning.”
Evans continues to search for cover elsewhere to put in place replacements for several other key areas where the Millers are struggling for numbers.
“I’m still involved in talks with a few clubs to bring players in that will go some way to help with the injury situation we’re experiencing, which has to be said, is at emergency level.”
