Evans snaps up full-back replacement...

Rotherham United have signed Huddersfield Town full-back Liam Ridehalgh on an emergency loan deal following further defensive injuries in the game against Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday evening.

Ridehalgh joins the club until 12th January, with current loanee Josh Morris set to be sidelined for some time, putting an end to his loan spell from Blackburn Rovers, and Steve Evans is pleased to have replaced him with someone who was a target for the Millers boss previously.

At the time, Evans told www.themillers.co.uk, “It’s no hidden secret that I tried to sign Liam earlier in the season, but for one reason or another we couldn’t get it done at that time. The lad has recently been at Chesterfield where it has to be said he has been outstanding, and when I got news that he was returning to Huddersfield, I moved quickly to bring the boy to New York Stadium.”

The Halifax-born defender has spent the first three months of the season with Chesterfield, where he appeared as a second half substitute against Steve Evans’ side earlier on in the campaign. The news comes less than 24 hours after the Millers recalled Johnny Mullins from his loan at Oxford United.

Ridehalgh will wear number 33, and the Millers are still awaiting confirmation as to his availability for their FA Cup second round tie with Notts County.
