Millers boss disappointed, on PlayerRotherham United manager Steve Evans felt his side could have taken maximum points after an inspired performance from Fleetwood ‘keeper Scott Davies earned the Cod Army a point.
The Millers took the lead through Kari Arnason but his effort was instantly cancelled out by Jon Parkin to earn Fleetwood a share of the spoils.
“It is a hard place to come to, we said it before and nothing changes,” Evans said after the game.
“I don’t think the Fleetwood fans will see a better visiting performance this season. They saw their team get a draw, defending heroically for the best part of 45 minutes in the second half.
“We have to accept that the finishing wasn’t where it should have been, to kill teams off. Micky Mellon is an honest manager and he will have seen his team get torn apart in the second half.
Evans lost Jamie Devitt and Kari Arnason at the break through injury, and Evans explained their absence for the second half.
“Jamie Devitt came off just before half-time with a slight hamstring problem, but the biggest credit I can give the players who came on is that we didn’t miss two key players. The players are in their now and they are choking with disappointment that they haven’t won. That is the sign of a good team.
“The pitch is magnificent but it is firm and hard. Kari has gone over on his shoulder, Denis (the physio) thinks it might just be bruising.”
