Millers boss pleased with second half...

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans was left delighted with his side’s second half performance in their 2-1 victory at Accrington Stanley. The Millers, who went behind after two minutes, had two Daniel Nardiello goals to thank for the victory that made it two away wins on the bounce.

“In the first half I thought we stood off them a little, maybe that came from a poor start, but I was really happy with the second half,” said Evans. “We regrouped and got back level straight away, and we spoke about stepping it up second half, passing and moving the ball quicker and using the width and I think we probably were unfortunate not to win it more comfortably. It’s a tough Accrington team, possibly the best in years so we’re pleased with the win”

Goalscorer Nardiello capitalised on a mistake to net the Millers’ first before firing through a ruck of bodies to seal the victory, and the gaffer is pleased with the way he’s reacted since dropping out of the side.

“He’s doing great for the team. We took him out and I keep saying it’s because he wasn’t working hard enough on the training ground, and I say whether you’re Nardiello or anyone else if you don’t work hard enough every day and look like you want to be at Rotherham United you aren’t going to play. His goals to game ratio has been excellent and in the last three weeks he’s put that extra effort in,” added Evans.
