Johnny Mullins talks to www.themillers.co.uk as the Millers continue their pre-season plans in the Algarve

Johnny Mullins insists the club's pre-season trip to Portugal will be vital for their League Two preparations.

Speaking following their handsome victory over Parkgate FC on Saturday, Mullins believes a change of environment will help the side bond on and off the pitch.

"I'm sure we will bond on and off the pitch in Portugal," he said to www.themillers.co.uk.

"It will be good to get away for four to five days and for the new players to gel.

"It will be a hard week training and an outing with Oldham but it does bring you together when your away as I'm sure we will have a laugh while working hard."

Despite their trip to Portugal being at the forefront of their minds, Mullins admits the players can't wait to ply their trade for the first time in the New York Stadium this Saturday when they lock horns with local rivals, Barnsley.

"It's a top class stadium," he enthused.

"I just want to get out there against Barnsley and we're as excited as the fans. It's great for Rotherham fans to return to the town to watch their team."
