The Millers defeat League One Oldham in the Algarve.

Rotherham United continued their pre-season preparations, with a 3-1 victory over League One side, Oldham Athletic in Portugal this morning.

Jason Taylor, Alex Revell and Daniel Nardiello scored the goals that made it two wins from two for Steve Evans' side.

Less than half an hour was on the watch when fine work from Kari Arnason and Kayode Odejayi gave Jason Taylor the opportunity to tap in from close range. The lead could have been doubled shortly after when Revell had been brought down in the area, but Gareth Evans' penalty rebounded out from the underside of the bar.

In the second-period Revell doubled the lead, volleying home at the far post from David Noble's cross, and the third was netted by Nardiello after a fine through-ball from Arnason.

The League One side did grab a consolation late in proceedings despite the best efforts of half-time substitute Andy Warrington.

Speaking exclusively to www.themillers.co.uk after the game, Steve Evans expressed his delight at the performance.

"The lads progress towards the new season continues," said Steve. "We can see already the quality of player we've signed. However, we remind them every day that despite the quality they possess, they have to ensure their work-rate and desire matches their ability. The boys are training twice again tomorrow before we travel home, and we're all looking forward to gracing the New York Stadium."

Millers: Shearer; Hunt, Sharps, Mullins, Wilson, Ainsworth, Arnason, Taylor, Evans, Revell, Odejayi.

Subs: Warrington, Bradley, Pringle, Noble, Nardiello, Rose, Denton.
