The New York Stadium will host a near capacity crowd for this evening’s friendly against Sheffield United

''Tonight is a fantastic occassion, let us enjoy it fully''.

''On a personal level, the support I have received in our home pre-season matches has been fantastic, I would like to thank every one of the supporters for that.

''I will be looking for our fans to take the roofs off as they back the lads with an atmosphere to be proud of. Everyone will see for themselves tonight the potential that Rotherham United has, so let us work together and deliver against it. My message to all Millers supporters is simple, sing your hearts out for the team, with you we will be so much stronger.

''This is an important game for us in the respect that we are less than two weeks away now from the season starting, it is time for things get a little more serious. I regard the Blades as a quality team who will challenge for automatic promotion in League One so we will need a quality performance to compete with them.

''On the pitch, I am only interested in what we do. We need to play high up the pitch and have great energy levels in our play.

''We are hosting an excellent club in Sheffield United. They have quality players and like us, terrific supporters. I have no doubt they will also be in full voice and they will be looking for their team to have a great season.

His opposite number, Steve Evans, will be without both Nicky Hunt and Dale Tonge but otherwise will have the rest of his squad available for selection. Steve said, '' There will be a great atmosphere inside and outside the New York Stadium this evening, Rotherham United has come home, that will be very evident.

Visitors Sheffield United will most likely have Chris Porter and Ryan Flynn return to action whilst Shaun Miller is expected to make his Blades debut after joining from Crewe for a transfer fee in the region of sixty thousand pounds.

With the exception of a couple of injuries in either camp both managers are expected to field near full strength teams for this keenly awaited South Yorkshire derby. Both teams will be looking for a great season ahead so this match will be vital for both clubs preperations.

Both sets of supporters will be in full voice and this will ensure there a fantastic atmosphere as the Millers announce once and for all we are firmly back home. All Millers supporters are asked to sing loud and proud this evening, and get behind Steve Evans and his men in what is sure to be a great night.

The New York Stadium will host a near capacity crowd for this evening’s friendly against Sheffield United, with the SOLD OUT signs ready to go up any minute.
