Goalkeeper Scott Shearer admits the club's recruitment drive in the close season has made the "football world sit up and take notice."

Shearer, who helped Crawley Town to back-to-back promotions after joining them from Wrexham, is one of nine new recruits so far and the 31-year-old stopper believes the squad have the calibre to take League Two by storm.

"I've been very impressed, it's a very strong squad," he enthused to www.themillers.co.uk.

"We have a goal to win the league this year and people in the football world are taking a look at Rotherham, with the signings we have made.

"We're a professional club from top down. We want to win the league and we will put pressure on ourselves as we don't want to fail."

The keeper, who signed on a two-year deal, insists he was immediately impressed by the club's ambition and he feels healthy competition with fans favourite Andy Warrington will help as a spur for the eventual Millers custodian.

"The stadium and training ground blew me away to be honest, so it was an easy decision to make to come here," he added.

"I know Andy (Warrington) is a good keeper. Both of us are experienced and it's good for the club as a whole, to have two good keepers."
