RCAT is entering the education world of sports

Sports mad? Ever thought about taking your hobby to the next level and making it your career?

Rotherham College of Arts and Technology is entering the education world of sports and is introducing their first sports course, a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sports.

The College has teamed up with Rotherham United Community Sports Trust to help deliver the new course, focusing on numerous topics including; football, badminton, volleyball, basketball, mountain biking and hiking as well as event organising, sports psychology, anatomy and physiology, nutrition and much more.

Martin Usher, Sports Lecturer at the College said: “This is our first sports course so it’s bringing something new and exciting for our students. We offer a whole host of other courses from computing and catering to animal care and tourism. And now this new course will open up new doors for our students in the world of sports.”

Jamie Noble, Head of Community from the Rotherham United Community Sports Trust said: “This is a unique opportunity for the students of Rotherham College to learn lifelong skills with the football club in our new home, the New York Stadium.

“We are very proud of what we have built and we have created not just a football ground but areas where learning can take place. The relationship between the football club and the College is going to be a long term one with far more courses on offer in the stadium over the coming years.”

On successful completion students have the opportunity to progress further on to BTEC Level 3.
