Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk ahead of the transfer deadline.

Steve Evans has admitted that his attempt to sign Bournemouth striker Matt Tubbs has failed.

The Millers boss told Millers Player yesterday that he was waiting for Bournemouth Chairman Eddie Mitchell’s response for a loan offer, and this afternoon Evans confirmed the offer has been turned down.

“We are taking defeat on the chin with regard to Matt Tubbs,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk

“We have tried everything, we made a financially good offer and also a good loan offer but full credit to Paul Groves and Eddie Mitchell, they have said he is not available and is a big part of their plans.”

Evans also confirmed that he does not expect to do any further business before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

“We are not expecting anything to happen between now and 11pm but we are also aware that on transfer deadline day things have a strange habit of happening at the last minute,” he added.
