Watch all the big match build-up to the local derby against Chesterfield...

Boss Steve Evans will continue to monitor the progress of Johnny Mullins ahead of the derby game with Chesterfield tomorrow.

The Millers vice-captain dropped to the bench in mid-week after picking up a knock in the victory over Burton Albion, and Evans will continue to assess the former Stockport defender in training today.

“He trained today and we need him to get a couple of days of training,” Evans told Millers Player yesterday.

“As a management team we firmly believe if you don’t train for the two days prior to the match then you are not included for selection. However, we are hopeful that Johnny will be available.”

On the game itself it will be Evans’ first experience of a Rotherham v Chesterfield local derby, and the gaffer admitted he is relishing the prospect of a packed crowd at the Proact Stadium.

“I have a lot of respect for the people at Chesterfield from the Chairman down to the players,” Evans added.

“Our fans are terrific, Chesterfield fans are terrific, they will be passionate which is what derby matches are about. It is about pride but ultimately it is about three points, and like said against Burton we need to play the game, not the occasion.”
