Rotherham United’s U18s earned a hard-fought point in an all-South Yorkshire affair at Graham Solley Sports Complex as they battled to a 1-1 draw against Doncaster Rovers.

Joel Holvey scored the Millers only goal of the game in a closely-contested fixture which would end with nothing between the two sides in the Youth Alliance League.

Both goals in the game would be scored before the 15-minute mark but it was the visitors who came flying out of the blocks to take the initiative in the South Yorkshire derby.

After Rovers had edged their way in front, Holvey was charged with set piece duty as he stood over a free kick 20 yards from the visiting goal.

A perfectly-executed routine saw the attacker bend the ball into the top corner leaving the Rovers stopper with no chance to restore parity with what would be the last goal of the game.
