Rotherham United’s youngsters maintained their fine run of recent form as they added another point to their Youth Alliance League tally following a 2-2 draw at Bradford City.

The Millers took an early lead through Sam Greenhouse following an electric start across the county divide in West Yorkshire but found themselves pegged back before Jerome Greaves restored their advantage just before the break.

Richard Hairyes’ side were unfortunate not to take all three points back to Rotherham as Bradford capitalised on a second half set piece situation to level it up at 2-2.

Having had a number of their scheduled games rearranged the Academy have taken the opportunity to readdress their practices away from a match environment, something that Hairyes believes has greatly benefited the youngsters.

"We've picked up recently,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

"We changed the structure of training and put a lot more emphasis on unit work and doing individual work with separate development plans.

"We've always had those in place but we've increased it in recent weeks.

"We're seeing the benefits of that now - the defence have a much better shape, our attacking movements are more deliberate and we look a lot more like the Rotherham United first team.

"We've been really, really positive and we'll keep working on that.

"It's exciting because we're getting U16s playing regularly for the youth team and Jake Champion is one of those who has been the standout performer in the last couple of weeks."
