Rotherham United started their double-header in the north-east with a narrow defeat after goals either side of half-time earned a 2-0 victory for Hartlepool United.

The home side moved joint-top of the Youth Alliance League when Brad Fox opened the scoring in the first-half with a curling effort, before Josh Scott made the points safe with a close-range finish with 20 minutes remaining.
