Joe Newell joined the Millers in the summer of 2015 having made the switch from Peterborough United in early August.

Primarily a midfielder, the highly-rated Newell can operate in a number of positions including left back, leaving London Road in high regard having spent the entirety of his professional career with Peterborough, with a loan at St Albans his only time away from the club.

The Birmingham-born man made 94 appearances for Posh scoring three goals.

Last season he immediately impressed the Millers with a number of eye-catching performances. He scored his first goal in the 1-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road, also scoring in home victories over Hull City and Bolton Wanderers. He ended an excellent first season with five goals in 38 appearances in all competitions.

An operation on an ankle injury has delayed his start to the 2016/17 campaign, but it is set to be a big year for Newell as he looks to establish himself in The Championship.
