Rotherham United are out of the FA Youth Cup after they lost 1-0 to a resilient Accrington Stanley at Don Valley.
Marcus Carver's goal was the difference between the two sides in an evenly matched game that either side could have won.
The first chance of the half fell to Accrington's Karl Dailey who found himself in space on the edge of the area before miscuing his shot.
Carver had the next chance for the visitors after he worked himself some space with a neat flick before bursting into the area and firing just wide after 20 minutes.
Phil Woods looked lively for the Millers early on, creating a good chance for Tom Brown whose driven shot went harmlessly past the post from the edge of the six-yard box midway through the first-half.
Accrington's Alexander McPolin thought he'd put the visitors in front on the half-hour mark, as his long range strike looked destined for the back of the net, but Millers keeper Jack Leyden was on hand to parry the looping ball.
Carver again found a gap in the Millers defence after a clever pass from McPolin and it took a brave stop from the on rushing Leyden to deny him the opener.
The Accrington front man finally got his reward on 34 minutes when he received the ball in the centre of the pitch before bursting into the area again, this time firing past Leyden low into the Millers goal.
Rotherham had been unfortunate in the final third and just before half-time a threaded Woods pass just evaded a well placed Tom Brown denying the home side an excellent chance to level.
Half-time
Millers 0-1 Accrington
The Millers started the second half brightly and it took a good save from Stanley keeper Adam Smith to keep his side in front, denying Brown from just inside the area.
Second half substitute Alec Denton troubled the Accrington defence with some strong hold up play before driving a powerful shot from the edge of the area that Smith got down well to save as the Millers pushed for an equaliser.
Some tidy defending from Stanley's Oliver Holden stopped a dangerous Millers move as Denton raced onto a loose ball only to see it turned behind for a corner.
Despite dominating, Rotherham couldn't find a way through the Accrington back line. The Millers came close when a Liam Royles corner fizzed across the face of goal, but nobody was able to connect as the ball sailed past the far post.
Another dangerous Royles delivery this time from a free-kick was met by the head of Jordan Hall whose header had Smith beaten but flew agonisingly over the bar.
Five minutes from the end Mitchell Rose worked some space on the edge of the area before laying off substitute Nicky Walker whose powerful low shot was expertly saved by the Accrington keeper to deny the Millers a leveller.
The referee brought the action to a close, ending the Millers progression in this year's competition.
