Parkgate signs its shirt to congratulate Millers
Despite the handicap of 17 points deduction at the beginning of the season, the achievement of Rotherham United in winning its first four matches has gone down very well with the club's home kit sponsor, Parkgate Shopping.
Parkgate's owners, British Land, had been following the club's tribulations very carefully over the summer, and when the new owners announced their ambitions for rescuing and progressing the team, extended its sponsorship for the next two years.
"We are very grateful to Parkgate Shopping and its owners for remaining so patient over the difficult few months, and for the very positive manner in which they entered into the negotiations," said Rotherham United's Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas.
He added "Their support has been crucial for the club's survival, and we are delighted that the team has been able to prove their faith with a string of excellent performances."
To commemorate the positive start, Parkgate Shopping's Manager, Denis Copeland, presented the club's chairman, Tony Stewart, with a club shirt at half-time during the Carling Cup match against Wolves, signed by the management and retailers at the Park.
"The club is such an important part of the Rotherham community, and not only do we pride ourselves on being one of the main sponsors, but in helping them to pave the way for a brighter future," said Denis Copeland.
