Barnsley Res 3-3 Rotherham Res - Report
Rotherham United reserves remain unbeaten in the Central League East Division after an entertaining 3-3 draw with local rivals Barnsley.
The Millers went behind early in the game when Jamil Adam gave the Reds the lead slotting in a penalty past Steven Cann in the Rotherham goal. It got worse for the Millers after 10 minutes when Adam raced clear to coolly lob the ball over Cann and into the net from 25 yards. Rotherham gradually managed to get a foot-hold in the game and began the fight back by pulling a goal back on the half hour mark.
Trialist Omar Garcia sent over a testing cross which Mark Burchill challenged for with Reds 'keeper Heinz Muller, the loose ball then fell nicely into the path of Jamie Yates who tapped in from close range.
Just before half time the comeback was complete with Garcia, once again at the heart of the goal. On 40 minutes he burst into the penalty area taking on the Reds defence before laying the ball to Yates who smashed the ball past a helpless Muller.
The Millers came out for the second half all square but after just six minutes of the re-start Barnsley were back in front. Jacob Butterfield sent in a free-kick which found the head of Rob Atkinson and the ball looped in leaving Cann with no chance.
Rotherham refused to give up and grabbed a deserved point with 12 minutes remaining. Another trialist Marcus Haber forced his way to the by-line, then sent over a low cross which was met by the fit again Marc Newsham, who scored to give the Millers a share of the points.
