Rotherham United came from behind to take a 2-1 victory over Lincoln City at Millmoor thanks to a late winner from Tom Cahill.

The Millers made a good start to the game and came close to opening the scoring in the 16th minute when Captain Marc Newsham struck a fierce shot from the edge of the area, which was palmed away at full stretch by Imps 'keeper Ayden Duffy.

Despite the Millers good start it was Lincoln who took the lead after 24 minutes. Steven Cann hit a poor clearance that fell to Imps striker Mark Stallard, who then took the ball around the stranded Cann and placed it into the empty net. Rotherham were almost level a minute later when a long ball caused confusion in the Lincoln defence but Newsham's side foot effort was saved by Duffy. Rotherham continued to press for an equaliser and in the 28th minute Jamie Yates found Newsham in the penalty area but his header was cleared off the line.

After a scrappy start to the second half the Millers pulled level in the 58th minute in spectacular style. Newsham and Yates combined well before the ball was laid into the path of Josh Davies, who hit a fierce shot from nearly 30 yards that flew past Duffy and into the top corner of the net.

The Millers surprisingly introduced controversial striker Chris O'Grady in the second half and he made a strong run from midfield but his finish from 20 yards was well off target.

Cahill went close in the 78th minute when he flashed an effort just wide from 25 yards as the Millers went looking for a winning goal. Five minutes later Rotherham's perseverance was then rewarded when with eight minutes remaining Cahill held the ball up with his back to goal; he then swivelled past his marker before finding the bottom corner via a deflection from 15 yards out.
