The experienced former Port Vale and Darlington midfielder signed for the Millers in May 2008, after two years playing at Darlington. He began his career at Middlesbrough but made just two senior appearances for Boro in just under four years with the club. Michael left the Riverside to find regular first team football and signed for Port Vale on a free in March 2000. Michael made over 250 appearances for Vale in six years before joining Darlington in May 2006.
