Tom signed from non-league Matlock Town in July 2007 but at first found it hard to break into the first team. The powerful striker was loaned out to Blue Square Premier outfit Altrincham where he netted once in six starts before returning to Millmoor. Tom's patience in the reserves paid off and he was given a run up front at the end of last season putting in some very notable battling performances. In total Tom made seven appearances for the season, which included five starts.
