Jason signed for the Millers during the 2009 January transfer window on a free transfer from Stockport County.
A former Oldham Athletic trainee, Taylor is a tenacious and determined performer who is noted for his industrious work at the heart of the midfield.
He was a regular for Stockport during their promotion season in the 2007/2008 campaign but moved to Don Valley after falling out of favour in the following season.
Jason struggled to hold down a regular place in the Millers starting 11 resulting in a prolonged loan spell at Rochdale last season where he helped the Lancashire to promotion from League Two.
Last season Jason was an integral cog in the Millers midfield where his consistency was rewarded with 47 appearances in all competions, which included a wonder-goal in the 6-0 victory over Lincoln City.
