Shrimps v Millers - Preview

Posted on: Fri 13 Aug 2010

Rotherham United will be looking to make it back-to-back league wins when they make their first ever visit to the Globe Arena tomorrow afternoon.

Morecambe's first ever match at their new home started well after a 2-0 midweek victory over Championship outfit Coventry City in the first round of the Carling Cup, whilst the Millers were stopped after defeat at Peterborough United.

Ronnie Moore will have a much stronger squad available for the trip to the Lancashire coast. On loan duo Dean Holden and Exodus Geohaghon are available after missing the Carling Cup game under the terms of their loan contract. There is also a return to the squad for Mark Bradley after he came back from the Welsh under-21s fully fit and striker Tom Elliott who had a knee problem. The Millers are still without Nick Fenton, Johnny Mullins, Dale Tonge, Tom Pope and Ryan Taylor through injury.

Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy has no new injury concerns ahead of his side's first league game at their new Globe Arena home. He is still without midfielder Neil Wainwright and defender Jim Bentley who both picked up injuries in pre-season.

The last time the Millers played at Morecambe was at the old Christie Park ground last season. The Millers were beaten 2-0 but there were happier times in 2008 when Rotherham came away with a 3-1 victory. Goals by Ryan Taylor and a Mark Lynch brace ensured a comfortable three points for the Millers.

Overall the two sides have met six times in the league with the Millers winning three, the Shrimps winning two and two games have been drawn.
