Millers v Imps - Preview

Posted on: Fri 06 Aug 2010

Rotherham United kick-off the new 2010/2011 season with a home fixture against Lincoln City tomorrow afternoon at Don Valley Stadium.

A busy close and pre-season has now drawn to a close which has seen Millers manager Ronnie Moore bring in no less than nine new faces into his squad.

Out of those brought in Tom Newey, Ryan Cresswell, Mark Bradley, Tom Elliott, Marcus Marshall, Exodus Geohaghon and Dean Holden are all available for selection for tomorrow's game.

The Millers will be missing injured trio Dale Tonge, Tom Pope and Ryan Taylor who are all missing with broken metatarsal injuries. New signing Luke Ashworth is suspended and won't be available for selection.

Lincoln arrive at Don Valley under the stewardship of Chris Sutton looking to improve on last season's 19th placed finish. The Imps have strengthened their squad over the summer with one notable acquisition, Drewe Broughton, who was released in the summer by the Millers.

The Imps welcome back Paul Green and Adam Watts who missed the end of last season through injury. They could hand debuts to a host of new players, including another former Miller Delroy Facey.

The Millers did the double over Lincoln last season after a 2-0 victory at Don Valley in November thanks to a brace from Adam Le Fondre, followed by a 2-1 win at Sincil Bank with Le Fondre grabbing the first and Gary Roberts netting the second.

Overall the two sides have met 86 times in the league with the Millers winning 41 times, the Imps winning 25 times and 20 games have ended in a draw.
