Millers v Bantams Preview

Posted on: Fri 05 Mar 2010

Rotherham United will return to action on Saturday, looking to extend their unbeaten home record to four games over Yorkshire rivals Bradford City.

City, who have recently been taken over by former Crystal Palace and England manager Peter Taylor scored excellent victories over Rochdale and Darlington since his arrival, but slipped to defeat in the games at Accrington and Aldershot.

The Millers will be looking to get back to winning ways following the defeat at Rochdale on Tuesday, and this intense derby game in front of a bolster crowd at Don Valley will provide the ideal stage.

Meanwhile, the Bantams currently lie in sixteenth position in League Two, but Taylor has brought in a number of new recruits, including Gillingham striker Marc McCammon, and more recently, Luke Oliver, who has joined until the end of the season.  The Bantams have no new injury worries for the game at Don Valley, but Oliver is expected to come into the squad, whilst Zesh Rehman remains sidelined with a calf strain.

For the Millers, skipper Ian Sharps is a doubt for the game following his early withdrawal on Tuesday night, and the game could also come too soon for midfielder Gary Roberts, who has been missing since the Friday night encounter with Torquay United. Dale Tonge, Paul Warne and Andy Liddell are still unavailable for selection.

In 66 previous encounters between the sides, the Millers have the upper hand, with 30 victories, and 11 draws also. The last home league victory came in 2007, when Delroy Facey and Martin Woods each bagged a brace to secure a 4-1 win for the Millers.
