Rotherham United return to League action this weekend for the visit of Shrewsbury Town.
The Millers impressive unbeaten run was ended on Tuesday night with the FA Cup defeat to Forest Green Rovers. Rotherham's unbeaten run of eight League games unbeaten is still intact, and a win over Shrewsbury at Millmoor on Saturday will be a sixth straight victory. The Millers are still three victories short of matching league leaders Milton Keynes Dons, who have the longest run of eight straight wins this season, between 7th September and the 20th October. The longest unbeaten run in League Two this season belongs to Barnet, who went 10 games without losing between 1st September and the 27th October.
Shrewsbury are currently in 11th place in League Two, just five points off the play offs and eight points behind the Millers. The Shrews League form away from home this season has been mixed. Out of their nine away fixtures they have won three, lost three and drawn three, their away record this season is the 9th best in League Two.
The last time the Shrews visited Millmoor was eight years ago for a Football League Trophy fixture. The Millers won the match 2-1 with an own goal by Gareth Hanmer and a winner by Chris Sedgwick; Stephen Jagielka scored the Shrewsbury equaliser. The last time Shrewsbury visited in a League fixture was in the same 1999/2000 season. Again the Millers were victorious comfortably winning 4-0 with all the goals coming in the first half, the scorers were Andy Turner, Rob Scott and a brace from Darren Garner. The last time Shrewsbury won at Millmoor was in 1998, when they beat Rotherham 0-1 with a Lee Steele goal. Overall the two teams have met 42 times in the League, Rotherham have won 13 times, Shrewsbury 19 times and 10 games have ended in a draw.
Two former Rotherham players will be returning to Millmoor for the first time on Saturday since leaving the club. Dave Hibbert spent the early part of last season on loan at Rotherham, in that time he started 12 matches and came of the bench 10 times in all competitions, scoring twice. Colin Murdock spent two years at Millmoor making 47 appearances, scoring two goals in all competitions.
