In view of the fact that stories have been circulating concerning the departure of Paolo Vernazza from Rotherham United it can now be confirmed that he has gone to Barnet on a week's trial basis with a view to a possible loan and then permanent move.

He headed south earlier this week but it was not officially announced in order to protect the player's interests in case nothing materialises from the initial developments.

Vernazza's only first team appearance so far this season has been as a substitute in the LDV Vans trophy game against Accrington Stanley.
