Ronnie Moore praised the performance of Stephen Brogan after the versatile performer completed his first 90 minutes of pre-season.

Brogan took the place of Tom Newey at left-back for last night's 2-0 defeat at Alfreton Town and put in a solid display despite carrying a slight knock in the second half.

"I thought he did well," Ronnie told Millers Player.

"He looked bright and sharp and there is no doubt that he has proved that there is a part for him to play here."

Nick Fenton was withdrawn in the first half allowing another player who hasn't featured too often, Luke Ashworth, a chance to show what he can do.

"I was disappointed with the way we conceded the second goal; it was Luke's man," added Ronnie.

"He should have been dominant and dealt with it but it was good for him to get some time on the field."
