Ronnie confirms Fenton injury

Posted on: Wed 28 Jul 2010

Ronnie Moore has revealed that he withdrew defender Nick Fenton because of a calf strain during the Millers 2-0 defeat at Alfreton Town.

The central defender pulled up in the first half and was replaced by Luke Ashworth and Ronnie also admitted that he is not the only player carrying knocks at the moment.

"He (Fenton) has stretched for the ball and it looks like he may have done his calf," Ronnie revealed on Millers Player.

"We will have to wait and see what happens with that one. Tom Newey was on the bench with a hamstring problem so he couldn't be involved, so we are going down like nine pins at the moment."

The Millers were undone in the second half when substitute Anthony Wilson grabbed a brace for the home side, and they missed more chances to extend their lead. Ronnie was disappointed with the display but pointed to the Millers hard pre-season as a factor for the defeat.

"We have worked the lads very hard in training and I think it showed just how much hard work we have put in because the lads looked leggy tonight," he added.

"There are one or two coming out of the game carrying knocks. Stephen Brogan has come out with a thigh strain and Greeny is struggling with his leg and then Luke Ashworth got a knock on the side of his temple."

The Millers are sending a team to Stocksbridge Park Steels tonight; kick-off 7.45pm at Bracken Moor. The match is pay on the day only.
