The Lowdown on... Macclesfield.
Next up for the Millers is the visit of Macclesfield Town to Don Valley on Tuesday night.
Rotherham recorded a first home win since February on Saturday with a 1-0 win over promotion rivals Bury.
This win moved the Millers up to 4th in League Two, just two points off second place. Manager Ronnie Moore was understandably pleased with the victory over Bury and expressed this to BBC Radio Sheffield:
"I'm pleased with the performance more than anything. I've got nothing but praise for the lads.
"It was a must win game for us and we've won it, so it's there for us to lose now."
Macclesfield tragically lost their manager Keith Alexander at the beginning of March after he collapsed in his home after returning from an away day defeat to Notts County.
Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore was just one of many to pay tribute to Alexander and his footballing career:
"Nobody in football had a bad thing to say about Keith. He was an absolute gentleman. His knowledge of the game was second to none and he has worked miracles with the team he has managed with limited budgets."
Since Alexander's sudden and tragic death, interim manager Gary Simpson has taken charge of first team affairs for the remainder of the season, with the task of keeping Macclesfield in League Two.
They come into this game on the back of a 3-1 away defeat at the hands of Dagenham & Redbridge. Gary Simpson said that his side were unlucky and are now focused on the trip to Don Valley:
"We need to take every game as it comes, I can't fault the team's attitude and work rate, but we need to keep producing that to give ourselves a chance of competing week in, week out.
"We got a couple of knocks that you get in every game. But I don't think there will be anything that will keep anyone out for Rotherham."
The Silkmen have picked up the majority of their points up at home, after only managing three wins on the road all season.
The player to watch for the Silkmen is the eye-catching striker John Rooney. The younger brother of Manchester United and England striker, Wayne, has made a big impression in League Two this season and has been influential for Macclesfield.
There is strike partner, Craig Lindfield, who joined Macclesfield in December. He has managed two league goals so far and poses a real threat upfront for The Silkmen.
Earlier this season, the Millers won 3-1 away at Moss Rose in August. Adam Le Fondre, Tom Pope and Danny Harrison were on the score sheet against The Silkmen.
Rotherham took all six points against Macclesfield last season, with a 2-1 win at Moss Rose and a 2-0 win at Don Valley.
The Millers could move up to second with a win at Don Valley on Tuesday night, whereas Macclesfield can move to 11 points from safety if they manage a rare away win.
