Danny Harrison completed the formalities on an extended deal last Friday and has now firmly set his sights on the upcoming season.
The 26-year-old agreed terms on an extension to his contract that will take him through to June 2010 and the former Tranmere midfielder revealed that he is now looking forward to the 8th August, when the Millers open the new season at home to Accrington Stanley:
"I've seen a few lads in the gym and I think that everyone is itching to get back into training," Harrison informed www.themillers.co.uk.
"We have a home fixture to start with, which is what we wanted. We got off to a flier last season with a home game against Lincoln so we will be looking for the same again. We also got a good draw at home against Derby in the Carling Cup so hopefully we can go on another cup run similar to last year."
It has been a busy close season for the Millers with nine players released and so far four new players signed. Harrison has been impressed with the new signings ahead of meeting them at the start of pre-season training.
"Nicky Law played against us for Bradford last season and he was one of the best players on the pitch," he said.
"He caused us all sorts of problems so he can only be a good addition to the side. Kevin Ellison is a good mate of mine from my Tranmere days and he will give us some steel as well as having an eye for goal that we need."
The countdown to the new campaign has begun with the Millers starting their pre-season friendlies at Don Valley Stadium on Saturday 18th July with a home game against Walsall, kick-off 3pm.
