Millers sign defender
Rotherham United have today completed the signing of full back Andy Nicholas on a free transfer.
Nicholas, 24, has been a free agent since his release from Swindon Town in the close season and joins the Millers to provide competition in the left back position.
Millers boss Mark Robins revealed that he was delighted with the signing, which comes just six days shy of the transfer window:
"I am pleased to confirm the signing of Andy because he will provide us with another option on our left side, he said.
"Andy will provide good competition for Jamie Green in the left back area which is something that can only benefit the team."
Nicholas began his career as a trainee with Liverpool in 2002 but after one year on Merseyside he found it hard to break into the first team. He took the opportunity to move to Swindon in 2003 on a free transfer and was a success at the County Ground making over 140 appearances for the Robins in a five year spell. During his time with Swindon he also had a loan spell at Chester City, where he made five appearances.
