Derek Holmes
One of the major factors behind Rotherham United's recent good form has been the goals of striker Derek Holmes.
The Scot has been in sensational form in front of goal of late scoring eight in his last nine outings, which included a match winning hat trick against Lincoln City last Saturday. Holmes was pleased with the goals but was modest about his hat trick achievement:
"All three goals were very simple, they were all tap ins at the back post and I was lucky enough just to be in the right place at the right time to put the ball away."
Holmes is currently enjoying his best scoring season in his time in league football and with 21 matches still to play he looks likely to add a few more to his goal tally of 11. The striker was keen to stress his good form was not just attributed to himself but also the work of the management and his team mates:
"I have to say that it is down to the manager who makes me work hard. I am on a good run at the moment and all the lads have been fantastic recently, we work extremely hard for each other and we compliment each other up front. The likes of Chris O'Grady and Ryan Taylor have done exceptionally well and they have got their fair share of goals, but at this present moment in time I have scored a few myself."
