Ronnie pleased as Millers progress

Posted on: Wed 01 Sep 2010

Ronnie Moore was pleased with the way his side upped the tempo after the Millers turned a stagnant first half into a comfortable 1-0 victory over Lincoln in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Ronnie shuffled his squad by giving debuts to Johnny Mullins and Jeremiah Ani, whilst also giving 'keeper Jamie Annerson an opportunity after an injury to Andy Warrington.

After a slow start to the game by both sides it was the Millers who took control in the second half, winning the game through an Adam Le Fondre deflected strike.

"I thought that in the first half we were a little sloppy but in the second half we upped the tempo and passed it and once we did that I felt that there was only going to be one winner," said Ronnie.

"We said one or two strong words at half time about upping the tempo and we moved the ball quicker and looked to play off the strikers much quicker. Once we did that I think their only chance was when Ryan Cresswell chested the ball back to Jamie, so overall I cannot complain, it was a really good workout for us."

There is a full post match interview with Ronnie in audio mode after every game and available now that can only be accessed through Millers Player.
