Ronnie praise for Millers despite defeat

Posted on: Sun 30 May 2010

Ronnie Moore couldn't hide his disappointment at the full time whistle after Rotherham United fell at the final hurdle after a 3-2 defeat against Dagenham and Redbridge.

In a pulsating game that swung one way and then another the Millers came up just short, despite showing courage and character to come from behind on two occasions.

"It was a horrible feeling," said Ronnie after the game.

"The players tried and tried and it was end to end stuff but when you defend like that you are not going to win the game. We have had six out of seven clean sheets but we couldn't do it today. I feel for the players because they gave everything.

"It is soul destroying to be honest. I have come here before and won and I have lost here. I went through so many emotions and it is a feeling that I don't want to have again. It's frustrating when you bring such a wonderful crowd here. When you get a minute you think could we have done anything better, and yes we could have defended better but that has been our problem, the inconsistencies."

Ryan Taylor was the Millers man of the match on the day after an excellent performance which was capped by two goals.

"I feel for Ryan Taylor because he was brilliant on the day," added Ronnie.

"He worked his socks off all day and got us back into it. Ryan has bossed it, he chased things and he got the goals but for all the fine attacking play you need to be right at the back and it is a shame that they scored from two set pieces. At 2-2 we had one or two little chances but it wasn't to be."
