Poor performance disappoints Ronnie

Posted on: Sat 08 May 2010

Ronnie Moore was disappointed with his Rotherham United side after the Millers ended the regular League Two season with a 3-0 defeat at Hereford United.

Goals from Mathieu Manset, Darren Jones and Marc Pugh ended the Millers four match unbeaten run and ensured Ronnie Moore's team finished in fifth place in League Two.

"I feel for the fans who have come down here and had to witness it," admitted Ronnie after the game.

"That wasn't us today. It looked to me that we were frightened to death of closing people down and getting involved in case we picked up any injuries and missing out on the play-offs. I said at half-time if you play like that then you play yourself out of the team, you need to get out there and produce and show that you deserve a place in the team. In the second half we had a little go but I was disappointed with the way we conceded the third goal. I am not going to slag them off, it was disappointing for the fans so I apologise to them for the way we played.

"I am disappointed that we haven't finished fourth because that was our target. No-one really has got the momentum but all the form goes out of the window for the play-offs. We need to roll our sleeves up, go to Aldershot and show what a good side we can be."

The Millers have struggled in front of goal in the last few weeks and Ronnie admitted that it is a concern that his side haven't found the net with regularity.

"It is a worry, we did get in behind them today but the final ball into the box wasn't good enough," he continued.

The full interview with Ronnie will be available on Millers Player on Monday.
