Ronnie Moore was delighted with his Millers side after they put the last two defeats to bed with a convincing 2-0 victory over Dagenham and Redbridge.
Adam Le Fondre was once again the Millers hero when he netted two first half goals, the second from the penalty spot, to ensure Rotherham ended a run of two straight defeats.
"We chased the ball, made tackles and moved the ball quicker tonight and that is what the supporters wanted to see," said Ronnie.
"Alfie was magnificent in and around the box. He was a constant threat all evening, the goal came out of nothing really, it was just a very quick reaction.
"In the first half we could have been three or four up and then in the second half Popey has put one over from close range. I have said that this is the beginning of our season, we have won tonight so now we go to Lincoln full confidence."
Mark Lynch was called into the side after an injury to Dale Tonge and Ronnie praised the full back and the rest of his defence for a confident display.
"I thought Lynchy did well as did the whole back four," he added.
"We sat a little deep in the second half but that will come. I don't want to single any individual out, as a team in the first half that is the performance that we are aiming for."
