Community Sports Trust encourages local residents

Posted on: Thu 11 Mar 2010

Residents from the Danes View Sheltered Housing complex are taking part in The Rotherham Mile to raise money for Sport Relief.

Local residents Di Vickerman, Kath Lawton, Shelia Keeling and Les Sheehan, pictured with Community Sports Trust workers Alex Wilson and Ryan Canadine, show off their Extra Time t-shirts and the Sport Relief socks they will be wearing for the mile.

Extra Time started last year as a 30 week exercise programme for over 50s. This brought together people aged 50 to 94 years old, during sessions the participants took part in both seated and standing activities.

Older Persons Activities Coordinator Ryan Canadine said "the residents take seriously the need to stay fit and active by doing regular exercise".

Rotherham United Community Sports Trust wishes the residents taking part, in The Rotherham Mile, all the best and hope they enjoy the day.
