Paul Hurst has re-joined Rotherham United as the Community Sports Trust's new Participation Officer.
Following a playing career which started with the Millers in 1993, Paul went on to give the Millers 15 years loyal service, whilst also becoming the clubs all time record appearances holder. Since his departure in 2008 Paul has had a spell as joint Player/Manager at Ilkeston Town and alongside another former Miller, Rob Scott, he is now joint Player/Manager of Boston United.
Paul will be combining his role with the Unibond Premier outfit whilst also working with the Millers and Head of Community Dale Spiby is delighted to welcome the former Miller back to the club:
"We are delighted to welcome Paul back into this very important position which is aimed at establishing links with the schools of Rotherham. In order to build our fan base for the future we need to target our young people and build positive relationships between themselves and the club and let them know that Rotherham United are still in their home town, even though we train in Doncaster and play in Sheffield.
"Paul's managerial qualities will be vital for the role as he will be heading up a team of 15 strong community coaches who will deliver sports participation in all our schools and communities.
"It is my vision that with Paul's legendary status and a lot of hard work on his part we can bring back the glory days both on and off the pitch, and have our new stadium at full capacity for the first match of the 2012/13 season."
Paul will begin his new role with the club at the back end of March.
