The Advanced Development Centre try to emulate a professional club's youth department by giving players the opportunity to receive professional coaching and to play in a games programme against players from other professional clubs. The Advanced Development Centre will play the Centre of Excellence at Rotherham United, plus other Development Centres.

The emphasis is purely on development, giving players maximum opportunities without affecting any of their existing club commitments. The Development Centre operates on a non profit making basis.

The Development Centre operates similarly to a Centre of Excellence where players are assessed twice a year, which can result in being kept on or released from the Development Centre scheme.

The Development Centre acts as a direct feeder to the Centre of Excellence at Rotherham United FC.

The Rotherham United FC Advanced Development Centre would like to ask club managers, schools and parents to nominate players to attend the trials.

The qualities that the Advanced Development Centre will be looking for are:

an ambition and motivation to develop themselves to play at the highest level
a good level of technical ability,
a receptive attitude to learning and improving, and
an ambition and motivation to develop themselves to play at the highest level possible
