Manager expecting 'strong' opposition...

Steve Evans is expecting a tough match when Chesterfield make the short trip to South Yorkshire tomorrow, with strength evident throughout the Spireites lineup.

“They’re strong all round,” said the Millers boss. “They’re very strong at the back and when you’ve got players like the boy Richards up front you’ve got a chance. He’s got great strength, and they’ve got great width (as a team) as well. They’ll be strong, they’ve got good backing off the chairman and they’ve sold their allocation so will make plenty of noise … but so will 10,000 Millers.”

A name on everybody’s lips around the Proact Stadium at present is 37 year-old Jack Lester. The Sheffield-born striker has been tipped to start at New York on Saturday, and Evans is hoping that the veteran forward doesn’t continue his habit of goalscoring against the Millers which has seen him net seven times in his career.

“Jack Lester will be scoring goals when he’s 67. He’ll be going down the beach with his hankie on his head, someone will ask him for a game and he’ll still be the best player on the pitch. I don’t know him personally but coming from people who have worked with him he’s an excellent professional and was born to score goals. I just hope he has a stinker on Saturday,” Evans added.

A capacity crowd is expected at New York for the fixture, and the Millers boss is calling for the support of the Millers fans, in helping secure a valuable three points.

“Our fans have been incredible, and we have a responsibility as a club to represent ourselves in the best way possible on and off the field. It will be a battle on the pitch and we need to make the noise off it. Someone said to me recently that New York Stadium when it was full reminded them of the atmosphere at Stoke City. What an accolade that is,” Evans concluded.

There are roughly 1,000 tickets remaining for the game, but please note you only have until 12pm tomorrow to get your tickets at the advance cost, before matchday prices come into effect.
