The Trotters are 5/4 with Sky Bet to get a first Championship victory over the season at the seventh time of asking against promoted Rotherham (21/10). Both these sides drew at the weekend, and that’s a 12/5 chance here. Under 2.5 goals has paid out in all six of Rotherham’s Championship games so far this season as well as both of their League Cup outings. There has only been one goal in Bolton’s last two games.

Birmingham City v Sheffield Wednesday
Birmingham City host opposition from Yorkshire again after drawing 1-1 with Leeds in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Saturday lunchtime. Blues are 9/5 with Sky Bet to pick up the three points, but visitors Sheffield Wednesday are rated as the more likely side to win at 6/4. The draw can be backed at 23/10. Wednesday are without a goal in their last two matches so will need their strikers to start firing again. Birmingham have only netted once in their previous two encounters so a low-scoring encounter could well be on the cards.

Blackpool v Watford
Blackpool still wait for their first win of the season but they do have a point on the board after drawing 0-0 with Wolves on Saturday. The Seasiders can be backed at 100/30 to pick up their first three-point haul against Watford, who are looking to bounce back after losing 1-0 to Charlton at the weekend. The Hornets are odds-on at 17/20 for victory at Bloomfield Road and the draw is a 5/2 chance. Watford had been full of goals prior to facing Charlton, beating Huddersfield 4-2 and Leeds 4-1 in their previous two games. Hornets striker Troy Deeney is the 4/1 favourite to score first and Blackpool will also have to be wary of Matej Vydra, who is 5/1 to open the scoring. Ishmael Miller is the most likely player from the home side to score first at 15/2.

AFC Bournemouth v Leeds United
AFC Bournemouth are the odds-on favourites at 8/13 to beat Leeds on Tuesday night. Leeds are 4/1 for the win and the draw is 3/1. Bournemouth were denied three points on Saturday by an injury-time equaliser from Rotherham and that made it four Championship matches without a win. Leeds’ caretaker manager Neil Redfearn built on the 1-0 victory over Bolton by drawing 1-1 at Birmingham and there have been positive signs at the start of his tenure. This encounter last season finished in a 4-1 victory to Bournemouth but you would expect the contest to be closer this term. The 5/4 for the draw at half-time could be worth at interest.

Brentford v Norwich City
Both Brentford and Norwich enter Tuesday night’s encounter on the back of encouraging victories at the weekend. Brentford won 3-2 at home to Brighton and Norwich produced a memorable fightback from 2-0 down to win 4-2 at Cardiff. Norwich are the 13/10 favourites for victory at Griffin Park, while hosts Brentford have been priced up at 21/10 for the three points. The draw is available at 23/10. Both teams have scored in all three of the Bees’ home matches so far this season and the quality of attacking talent on show suggests that record could be set to continue.

Cardiff City v Middlesbrough
Cardiff are looking to bounce back after letting a 2-0 lead slip in the 4-2 defeat at home to Norwich on Saturday afternoon. Sky Bet make the Bluebirds 7/5 favourites to show their quality with victory over Middlesbrough, who are 19/10 for the three points. The draw is priced up at 23/10. Boro have won two out of three of their away games so far this season, including Saturday’s 2-1 success at Huddersfield. Aitor Karanka’s men have also netted the final goal in six of their eight matches so far this term and backing them at 6/5 to complete the scoring on Tuesday night is a tempting proposition.

Charlton Athletic v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves are the 7/5 favourites with Sky Bet to win away at Charlton on Tuesday night. Kenny Jackett’s men have made an encouraging start to life back in the Sky Bet Championship and sit third in the early standings. Charlton have also enjoyed a strong opening to the season and are just behind Wolves in fifth. The Addicks are 19/10 for a midweek victory and the draw is a 23/10 shot. Wolves do face a tough task to walk away with the three points as Charlton have won all three of their home matches in the current campaign. Bob Peeters’ men have also led at half-time in their last two games and are 5/2 to have the advantage at the break in this match.

Huddersfield Town v Wigan Athletic
New Huddersfield manager Chris Powell suffered heartbreak in his first match in charge of the Terriers as Middlesbrough struck in injury-time to win 2-1 on Saturday. Powell’s men are 19/10 to bounce back with victory at home to Wigan but it’s the Latics who are the 7/5 favourites to claim victory. The draw is available at 23/10. Wigan have lost all three of their away games so far this season so that will give Huddersfield hope of ending a four-match run without a win. There have been over 2.5 goals in six out of the Terriers’ eight games in the new campaign, while Wigan’s record in this market has seen over 2.5 goals scored in five of their seven matches. Goals could well be on the menu again in this contest.

Ipswich Town v Brighton and Hove Albion
Town have won two, drawn two and lost two of their six Sky Bet Championship games this term, and with both of those wins coming at home – including Saturday’s 2-0 success against Millwall – the Tractor Boys will be hopeful of picking up three more points at 6/4 in this one. Brighton are 7/4 chances to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointment at Brentford with victory here. The draw’s a 23/10 chance. Brighton’s last three games have ended 3-2, 2-2 and 4-2; over 4.5 goals is a 7/1 chance here, while over 3.5 goals is 3/1 for those who prefer to play a bit safer.

Reading v Millwall
Reading have been in decent form since a 4-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, responding to that loss with a League Cup victory over Scunthorpe and back-to-back league wins against Middlesbrough and Fulham. The Royals are even-money to pick up another three-point haul against Millwall, who are two places above their hosts with a near-identical record. Only one goal separates them in the table. Millwall are 13/5 for victory here, with the draw 5/2. Glenn Murray scored two of Reading’s three goals against Fulham at the weekend and is 9/2 to open the scoring here.

Wednesday
Blackburn Rovers v Derby County
A tight game appears in prospect at Ewood Park, and that’s reflected in the odds with both sides priced at 8/5 to take the three points. The draw may be tempting at 12/5, especially as Derby’s last two league games have ended 1-1. That can be backed at 5/1 here, while Draw/Draw in the HT/FT market is a 9/2 chance. Rovers’ Jordan Rhodes is the favourite to net the first goal of the game at 9/2, with Chris Martin shortest in the same market for the visitors at 5/1.

Nottingham Forest v Fulham
It’s top v bottom at the City Ground on Wednesday night as Forest – still unbeaten this season – look for a fifth win of the season and are priced up at 7/10 to get it. Fulham, in contrast, are still without a league win following relegation from the Premier League last season. They’re 18/5 to get three points here, with the draw a 14/5 chance. Three of Forest’s four wins in the league to date have been ‘to nil’; that’s a 21/10 shot. Britt Assombalonga, who scored for the home side against Derby on Sunday, is 4/1 to score two goals in this game, or 4/5 to find the net at any time in the game.
