Millers boss Steve Evans was left disappointed after his side were defeated 5-0 by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
A Benik Afobe brace either side of former Millers loanee Nouha Dicko’s strike, added to goals from Dave Edwards and Bakary Sako which saw the hosts run out convincing winners.
The Millers chief insisted his team had had an off-day as he reflected on the defeat:
“It’s a bad day for us at the office,” he said after the game.
“We have to go away and look at it and reflect on it and try and put it right.
“It’s not been like us in recent weeks but we gave them too much time on the ball at different times today and all bar one, I think they took every chance.
“We’ve worked extremely hard today, I don’t think anyone can fault the work rate otherwise we wouldn’t have made the chances we’ve made and Wolves are excellent going forward but we thought we could have got them at the back.”
After going 2-0 down in the first half, the visitors did manage to carve out some good opportunities but failed to take their chances on a wet afternoon in the Midlands:
“There’s some key moments in the game just before half time when we’re 2-0 down and we probably deserve to be, but we miss a couple of golden chances to make it 2-1 and maybe even 2-2,” added Evans.
“I think we made six or seven chances ourselves but the difference is that they’ve been clinical.
“We’ll have a look at it tomorrow on the screen and we’ll address certain things and we’ll try and move on from it. We’ll put a team and a system in place ready for Watford.
“If we put those away then perhaps it’s different but it’d be foolish for me to do anything other than congratulate Wolves and we’ll go back.
“Then in the second half I think it’s the first time they get over the halfway line we give them too much time on the ball and the boy goes through and finishes it, but we’ve missed three or four chances in that spell.”
With the season drawing into the final stages the Millers boss insists that there are some vital games coming up and knows his side will have to regroup ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Watford:
“We never get too high when we’ve run in recent weeks and we have to learn from it, but equally we won’t get too low.
“Today collectively as a management team and a unit we’ve let ourselves down and our wonderful supporters who have travelled down here down."
