Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has said that Luciano Becchio is not on his ‘immediate radar’.

The Argentine striker enjoyed a loan spell at AESSEAL New York Stadium last season, before a heel injury curtailed his spell with the Millers.

He netted in the games against Charlton and Blackburn, but after he returned to parent club Norwich City he didn’t play a game for the rest of the campaign, culminating in his recent release after the Canaries secured promotion.

Becchio’s availability won’t tempt boss Evans, with the Millers boss stating that the former Leeds front-man isn’t currently in his thinking.

“Players like Luciano are not on our immediate radar,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk.

“Everyone knows I have a fantastic relationship with the lad from his brief time with us, and people know how frustrated we were when he picked up his injury because we were starting to see him blossom.

“We have moved elsewhere now and he isn’t someone that we have spoken to as we look to put together our squad for next season.”

Evans yesterday confirmed he has held a number of positive meetings with potential new targets, with at least two further meetings to be scheduled this week.
