Steve Evans talks to www.themillers.co.uk...

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans remains optimistic about bringing in some fresh faces ahead of today’s transfer deadline.

The transfer window slams shut for permanent deals at 6pm this evening, but Evans continues to work hard behind the scenes in an attempt to bolster his squad before the closure of the window.

Evans confirmed he is working on several deals and remains upbeat about his chances of adding some new faces with just under five hours remaining.

“We have been working round the clock over the Bank Holiday weekend, and remain optimistic that we might be close on one or two targets,” Evans told www.themillers.co.uk

“We have spoken to clubs and players, but of course around this time of the year we are not the only club looking to strengthen, virtually every club will try and conclude some business today.

“There is fierce competition in the market but we are confident that we can get something done. It has to be the right player, we won’t be bringing anyone in who we feel isn’t better than what we have here.

“We will continue to work diligently behind the scenes and will try and update our fans with some positive news as and when we have it.”
