Millers boss Steve Evans’ schedule remains busy as the club continues to put its summer recruitment plans into action.

The Rotherham United manager confirmed that talks are ongoing with a number of targets and has been delighted with the progress that has been made over the last seven days.

“There have been a number of meetings over the last week since I got approval from the chairman,” he explained.

“I can confirm to our supporters that the talks with the players and agents that we have met with over the course of the last week have concluded positively and from those we’ll move forward to another stage that will start to happen from Tuesday of next week.”

Having retained the core of the side that kept the Millers in the second tier last term, the Millers’ chief is keen to make the right additions and is keeping his options open as new targets appear on the market.

“Our aim this season is to add quality players to the squad we already have here and we’re constantly updating our list as different players become available.

“Two players have been confirmed to me as available in the last 48 hours and meetings with them have already been scheduled in our diary for the middle of next week.”

Evans is confident that his constantly evolving list of potential recruits will benefit the club but insists that quality over quantity will be key this summer.

“This means that there will always be a freshness to our list of targets but we have been very specific in saying that we only need to add six or seven players to the group and then we will be ready for the season ahead."
