This morning we caught up with manager Steve Evans for an update regarding potential new signings and plans ahead for the weekend.
Can you give everyone an update in terms of planned recruitment for next season?
“As our supporters will understand there have been a number of meetings involving the Board of Directors and myself, which culminated with a one-on-one meeting between the Chairman and myself yesterday.
“I can confirm at that meeting that the targets that I have indentified to the Chairman have been sanctioned, and a number of meetings have now been set up with those targeted players and their representatives.”
What is the latest with the contract offers that have been made to Ben Pringle and Craig Morgan?
“I was informed by Paul Douglas late on Wednesday evening that at this stage we have been unable to agree terms with either of the lads or their representatives. I am obviously disappointed that both have decided to move on from what has been a simply stunning three year period for both players. I am not privy to the actual detail, as those negotiations are conducted by our Chief Operating Officer.
“On behalf of everyone at Rotherham United we would like to thank both for their service and we wish them well for the future.”
Can you update us on any interest in Scott Loach and Conor Newton?
“There has been significant interest in both players and the lads and representatives are in discussions with a number of clubs.
“My understanding is that those discussions will continue. Both players are still available to any interested clubs, and neither are part of the plans moving forward.”
What will be the plans for the coming days?
“After the discussions with the Chairman yesterday it is fair to say that I will be involved in a couple of meetings concerning potential new players, as well as further meetings involving adding to my backroom staff.
“On top of this I have a number of commitments over the weekend with the media. I will be involved with Sky Sports and the BBC.”
